Esmeralda County Performance Highlight

Esmeralda County is currently leading the state in growth metrics for the Statewide Plan for the Improvement of Pupils 2030. While many districts are struggling to hit the state’s ambitious 5-point annual growth mandate, Esmeralda has decisively cleared the bar in both key categories:

  • K-3 Literacy Proficiency: Esmeralda posted a remarkable +7.8 point increase, far exceeding the 5-point state mandate and outperforming major districts like Washoe (+2.6) and Clark (+1.7).
  • Middle Years Proficiency: Esmeralda was one of only five LEAs in the state to meet the 5-point annual benchmark for students "on-track" for proficiency.

Esmeralda County is currently the statewide gold standard for proficiency acceleration, proving that our targeted strategies begun last year and continuing this year are delivering results that significantly outpace state expectations.

Career Fair

Tonopah High School is hosting a career fair on Thursday, April 16th and has invited the middle school and VHS students of Esmeralda County! This event is open to all 6-8th grade and Esmeralda Virtual High school students.

Dyer Walkathon and Book Fair

The book fair in Dyer was well received as part of Family Literacy Night. We had many of our families attend Literacy Night as well as the book fair. The walkathon in Dyer was also a great success. Money was raised for the 8th grade trip as well as general needs at the school.

Parent Guidance

We have been offering access to Parent Guidance.org to our district families since November. Since January, we have had 50 unique users of the service who accessed 76 different topics. This service is completely anonymous. No personal information is collected or shared.

2026 - 2027 School Year

We are expecting to have all but 3 of our teachers return next year. We are looking at a couple retirements that leave positions to be filled.
