General Comments
The new school year is in full swing, and it's clear to everyone how hard our staff and students are working. Beginning of the year testing is complete. It is time to roll up our sleeves and get into the learning, and it is a joy to see our students so excited about their schools.
Senator Visit
The recent visit from Senator Catherine Cortez Masto to Goldfield Elementary was a great success. We got to show her the school and all the wonderful things we've gotten from grants. The Senator was impressed with how many different things we have to offer, including our hydroponics station, drones, guitars, microscopes, robotic mice, sound equipment, time out cubicles, scooters, and our full library. She remarked that it's great to have so many opportunities in a smaller, rural school. We also talked about our work to better connect the school with the community. It was a great opportunity to show off what we're doing in the district.
School Lunch Program
Our new salad bars have been a huge hit with the students! It’s great to see them enjoying the fact that they have up to nine different choices for their lunch. This has led to them eating more vegetables and provides a healthy option for everyone. I am amazed how quickly this idea went from a “what if” to “right now”.
Dyer School Swingset
Jennifer Tully, Transportation/Facilities Director, and her team at Dyer School were able to finish installing a new swing set just in time for the first day of school. The students absolutely love it, and it's a great addition to their playground.
