General Comments: May 2 was the first track meet held on the Kirby Athletic Field. The event was well-attended by families. Pop canopies helped everyone have access to shade.
PLC/Safety Committee: Meeting of the Safety/Wellness committee was held. A decision to investigate the purchase and use of salad bars was made. The salad bars will help us continue down the path of farm to table initiative with classroom grown vegetables. The student demand for fresh vegetables has increased as the hydroponic labs have been utilized.
District Facilities and Bus Update: We are moving forward on the bid process to have a new HVAC system installed in the Goldfield gym. This will increase our ability to host local and regional events comfortably. This is something we have been planning for years, but we now have been able to budget for it. We expect to have the project completed in the 25-26 school year. ESCD is going to give the district a face lift with painting across the district this summer.
Superintendent/Board: As we close out the 24-25 school year, there is change in the works for Goldfield School staffing. We are in the process of hiring at least 2 new teachers for Goldfield School. We have some excellent, highly experienced candidates, and things are progressing well. In our June newsletter, we expect to be able to present our board’s acceptance of the new staffing decisions.
