Superintendent’s Board Report for September 2024
James D. Fossett, Superintendent
Important Dates:
Labor Day Holiday September 2nd - Monday, No School
EsCSD Leadership & Safety Meeting September 3rd - Tuesday, Dyer/Virtual
School Board Meeting September 10th - Dyer 5:00 PM
Professional Development for Teachers September 13th - Friday, Goldfield in person
General Comments:
Heading into this school year we will be increasing the ease with which teachers can access data on students’ progress and offer to students substantially more feedback on their learning through the use of iReady math and reading. We are also exploring the use of School AI and look forward to the help this offers to teachers through AI as well as peer collaboration.
PLC/Safety Committee:
On September 10th we will have our first Safety Committee meeting and explore how our drills are going and develop our site level safety focus for our first semester of the 2024-2025 school year.
District Facilities and Bus Update:
EsCSD has a track in Dyer! Seeding the field in the middle of the track, and turning on sprinklers, will occur in the second half of September. During the Goldfield yard sale more buses have been removed from inventory and our remaining fleet is newer, more reliable, and smaller (less to maintenance).
Superintendent:
During the September School Board meeting we will be introducing the 2024-2025 Student Body Presidents, who will function as representatives to the School Board. This will be a groundbreaking event as our School Board has directed the Superintendent to create an opportunity for student representatives to participate in giving feedback and support to the Board on school issues. We applaud the School Board’s desire to obtain greater input from the students and communities
we serve.
