General Comments: This has been a great school year. We have had many academic successes to celebrate. We have recently concluded the 8th grade trip with activities at the Discovery Cube which is a hands-on science museum, as well as a visit to the Japanese Gardens. It was refreshing to see our 8th graders enjoying nature.
PLC/Safety Committee: We had a special convening of the Safety Committee where we addressed the Wellness plan, updating it with the inclusion of salad bars to encourage students to eat more of our classroom-grown vegetables as well as providing them more choice. The committee also read through the strategic plan which has a focus on improving literacy and math skills throughout the district.
District Facilities and Bus Update: It is summer time, and that means painting season at EsCSD. Some buildings have already gotten facelifts - thank you Kyle. The board has voted to authorize the Director of Transportation to utilize the budget to continue the fleet update, keeping our vehicles safe for students and staff.
Superintendent/Board: We want to welcome Scott and Melissa Shakespeare to our team. Scott will teach in the Goldfield 3-5 classroom. Melissa will help in a para pro position in Dyer and Goldfield. Khris Campos will be teaching in the Goldfield K-2 classroom. Karen Mockel has completed her certification and is now, officially, a licensed teacher. Kristen Kile will be certified very shortly.
The last 6 years serving in EsCSD have been very rewarding for me. The board has completed negotiations with myself and Jonathan Firme. This will be my last board report. Jonathan will take over, with my support as a mentor, on July 1, 2025. Thank you all again for this wonderful opportunity.
