Vision, Mission, Belief Statements

VISION STATEMENT We envision a highly effective district-wide safe and orderly Professional Learning Community that results in a premier school of highly engaged and highly motivated students preparing for High School and 21st Century College, Career and Citizenship responsibilities.

MISSION STATEMENT Our mission is to create a safe and orderly environment with a highly effective PK-8 district-wide Professional Learning Community that appropriately delivers NVCCSS to a rural student population that will result in a 100% graduation of eighth grade students adequately prepared for High School responsibilities.

BELIEF STATEMENTS

  1. WE BELIEVE that all students can learn at high levels.

  2. WE BELIEVE that this can best be achieved by becoming and performing as Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). We will be guided by three questions: A. What is it we want our students to learn? B. How will we know our students have learned? C. What will we do when they do not learn?

  3. WE BELIEVE in providing a learning environment that fosters citizenship, a high level of health and physical fitness; and one that supports a moral/ethical approach to the challenges of our current society, to college and to career readiness.

  4. WE BELIEVE in providing a learning environment that fosters respect for social and individual diversity.

  5. WE BELIEVE that “Family and Community Engagement in Public Schools” is critical to student success.

Superintendent’s Board Report for March 2024

James D. Fossett, Superintendent

End Third Quarter March 7th - 3/4ths of the way through the year

School Board Meeting March 12th     - Dyer 5:00 PM

Parent Teacher Conferences March 14th  - To be scheduled with each family

General Comments: Students have shown great endurance this year, coming to school everyday and working hard. The hands-on projects, physical education, and constant academic effort evident everywhere one looks! Our Basketball season has concluded. A special thank you to our volunteer Coach Jackie Dowers and staff Chiemi Larsen, Christina Sullivan and Elaine Arnold.

PLC/Safety Committee: The district PLC meeting in March will put the finishing touches on our critical WWHSP Workplace Safety Plan. We originally planned to complete this in one session in November, but committee members saw the need to better understand the plan, the process, and exactly how we, as a unique district, would craft our plan to best benefit our organization. Three cheers for this hard working committee. They did an outstanding job and it will go before the School Board for acceptance in the March Board meeting.

District Facilities and Bus Update: We have some new pictures of our new bus being outfitted with the last needful items before going into service. The newly required underhood engine fire suppression system is one of those last steps. Even as we anticipate the arrival of our new bus, we are scouting for another one for the other side of the district. The work really never ends.

Superintendent/Board: Superintendents from all over the United States came together in San Diego for the AASA convention, where all superintendents (over 5,000 strong) come together to collaborate, give input on policy, and share great thinking about how to make better education in America.
